Discover Sardinia with Capo Caccia Fine Foods: Inside Antonio’s Octobe

Discover Sardinia with Capo Caccia Fine Foods: Inside Antonio’s October 2025 Food & Culture Tour

In October 2025, Antonio, Founder of Capo Caccia Fine Foods travelled back to Sardinia with a group of customers for an immersive week exploring the island’s flavours, landscapes, archaeological sites and ancient traditions. In partnership with Sapori e Saperi Adventures, the group followed the celebrated Giants of Sardinia itinerary, an authentic way to experience Sardinia through the eyes of its producers, cooks and custodians of culture.

The journey began in Cagliari, Sardinia’s vibrant capital, before moving along the west coast to Oristano, Cabras and San Vero Milis. These areas are home to some of the island’s most treasured food producers and are central to the story of Capo Caccia Fine Sardinian Food, whose mission is to bring these flavours to the UK.
A highlight was the group’s visit to the Stagno di Cabras, the iconic lagoon known for its traditional mullet fishing. This is where the prized bottarga di muggine originates, a product that Capo Caccia proudly imports for customers who love authentic Sardinian ingredients. Watching local fishermen work with methods passed down through generations offered guests a rare insight into a practice deeply tied to the island’s identity.
For anyone interested in a Sardinian food tour focused on sustainability and tradition, this moment captured exactly what makes the island so special.

Hands-On Experiences: Culurgiones & Casizolu Cheesemaking

The tour also gave travellers the chance to roll up their sleeves and learn the craft behind some of Sardinia’s most iconic foods.
Guests learned to prepare culurgiones, the beautifully hand-pinched pasta typical of the Ogliastra region. This hands-on experience helped the group appreciate the skill behind a dish so often featured at Capo Caccia tastings and events in London.

Another memorable workshop focused on casizolu, Sardinia’s traditional caciocavallo. The group worked alongside a local producer to heat, stretch and shape the cheese, a process that brought them much closer to the kinds of artisanal products offered by Capo Caccia Fine Sardinian Food. These workshops are ideal for anyone seeking an authentic food experience in Sardinia, especially travellers who appreciate traditional craftsmanship.

Vernaccia Wine Tasting & True Sardinian Hospitality

No Capo Caccia Fine Sardinian Food adventure would be complete without great wine and warm hospitality. The group enjoyed a tasting of vernaccia di Oristano, a historic wine unique to the region. With its amber colour and distinctive notes shaped by flor ageing, vernaccia offered a wonderful contrast to the fresher wines travellers may already know.
Evenings were spent at a welcoming agriturismo, where homemade dishes, local ingredients and relaxed conversations with hosts helped guests feel fully immersed in Sardinian life.
